Impressions

With the altitude of 183 meters, a tower dedicated to the indigenous Polynesian people of New Zealand, the Māori people, is on the summit of One Tree Hill. There are pastured sheep in this park. If you visit here during day time, you can see adorable sights of sheep crossing the road with their offspring, or lambs playing with each other.

You can enjoy the night view from the parking lot, but if you climb up the stairs, you will arrive at the observatory straight away. Since there are no streetlights, I recommend that you bring lighting such as pen lights.

Note

There are several gates to enter the park, but the only one you can go in and out of at night is the Manuka Road on the west side. The gate hours are written at the entrance, and since the hours will change during different seasons, you will need go there during the day to check the hours. When I visited for coverage in October 2013, 11PM was the closing time.

Opening Times

Closing times change according to the seasonal changes to daylight saving.
